The New Science of Science Policy
Much of the early work in STS was oriented at issues of science (and technology) policy. However, over the years this orientation of STS has changed. More recently, we have wittnessed a renewed interests in science policy studies, with a variety of new programs and institutes founded in various countries - among others in the Netherlands.
In this talk I will briefly describe the science system assessment program - which focusses on the interactions between the dynamics of research fields and the institutional framework that characterizes the science system. This will be illustrated with a few examples.
